ON-GOING EVENTS

The second Wednesday of every other month Glenn provides free consultations at the Scotia-Glenville Senior Center located at 32 Worden Road, Glenville, NY.  If you wish to meet with Glenn at this location, call the Center directly (518-374-0734) to schedule an appointment.

The third Thursday of each month Glenn provides free consultations at the Clifton Park Adult Community Center located at 1 Town Hall Plaza, Clifton Park, NY 12065.  If you wish to meet with Glenn at this location, call Glenn’s office (518-372-2827) to schedule an appointment.

March 28, 2020 - Albany Law School - Senior Citizen’s Law Day: 
Glenn will host a table and will provide a presentation regarding the importance of Powers of Attorney at the Albany Law School Senior Citizen’s Law Day.  The Senior Citizen’s Law Day is part of the Albany Law School’s Pro Bono Program.  The event will include a keynote speaker, numerous presenters, resource materials and an opportunity for free one-on-one counseling sessions with experts.  The Albany Law School is located at 80 New Scotland Avenue, Albany. 

This event is Postponed.  Albany Law School’s leadership team is actively monitoring developments related to the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. The law school is following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the New York State Department of Health, and the Albany County Department of Health, as well as its internal Pandemic Response Plan.

March 12 & 19, 2020 - Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Continuing Education Program: 
Glenn will be teaching a two-session course through the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Continuing Education Program as follows:  Session One (3/12) entitled Estate Planning Basics and Session Two (3/19) entitled Beyond the Basics – Asset Protection.  Each session will run 1.5 hours and will be held at the O’Rourke Middle School located at 173 Lakehill Road, Burnt Hills.  For registration information visit the school’s website at www.bhbl.org.  The fee being charged by the Continuing Education Program is $5.00 for residents and $8.00 for non-residents.   This fee covers both sessions.  

March 25, 2020 – Brookdale Niskayuna – Senior Living Solutions: 
Glenn will present two sessions at Brookdale on this day – the first at 8:30 a.m. for clients and the second at 5:30 p.m. for families assisting loved ones.  The material to be covered will include an overview of the Medicaid program – misconceptions of the program, who qualifies, finances behind it and Medicaid updates.  The Brookdale facility is located at 1786 Union Street, Niskayuna.  Contact:  Jennifer LaPorte (518-312-1940).   

March 26 & April 2, 2020 – Scotia-Glenville Continuing Education Program: 
Glenn will be teaching a two-session course through the Scotia-Glenville Continuing Education Program as follows:  Session One (3/26) entitled Estate Planning Basics and Session Two (4/2) entitled: Beyond the Basics – Asset Protection.  Each session will run 1.5 hours and will be held at the Scotia-Glenville Senior High School located at 1 Tartan Way, Scotia.  More information to follow.

April 14, 2020 – Annual Alzheimer’s Caregiver’s Conference:
Glenn will be a Sponsor again this year in support of the Annual Alzheimer’s Caregiver’s Conference hosted by the Northeastern New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. The conference will be held at the Albany Marriott located at 189 Wolf Road, Albany, NY 12205. The conference will feature a keynote speaker, closing speaker and a variety of educational workshops throughout the day. The educational workshops will focus on various Alzheimer’s disease and dementia-related topics, intended for the caregiver. There will be more than 50 exhibitors, including home health care agencies, assisted living communities, memory care options, financial advisors and many other community supportive services.  Glenn highly recommends attendance at this event for caregivers of loved ones with memory issues.   

RECENT EVENTS

February 20 & 27, 2020 – Niskayuna Senior Center: 
Glenn presented two sessions at the Niskayuna Senior Center as follows:  Session One (2/20) entitled Wills or Revocable Trusts?  Revocable Trusts are the “Under Appreciated little brother” of Irrevocable Medicaid Trusts and Session Two (2/27) Beyond the Basics – Asset Protection.   The Center is located at 2682 Aqueduct Road, Niskayuna (518-372-4969). 

February 4, 2020 - Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Continuing Education Program:

May 16, 2019: Glenn gave a presentation entitled, “Can I Protect my House if I go into a Nursing Home?” at the Glenville Senior Center. The Glenville Senior Center is located at 32 Worden Road, Glenville, NY. The event was well attended and numerous questions were asked by individuals based on their particular circumstances. Various issues related to this topic were discussed, including: asset protection planning; Wills, Trusts and administration; Medicaid eligibility, including how annuity investments can affect eligibility.

April 17, 2019: Glenn was a sponsor at the Caregiver’s Conference hosted by the Northeastern New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. The conference was held at the Albany Marriott located at 189 Wolf Road, Albany, NY 12205. The conference featured a keynote speaker, closing speaker and a variety of educational workshops throughout the day. April 4, 2019:  Glenn will be giving a presentation entitled, “How to Recognize Undue Influence”, at the Schenectady County Bar Association’s Litigation Committee and Trusts and Estates/Elder Law Committee Seminar that will be held at the Glen Sanders Mansion. This event is a Continuing Legal Education event and so is not open to the public.  However, following this event, Glenn will provide information pertaining to his subject matter as well as other information shared that day, on this website.

April, 2018:  Glenn was a sponsor at the Caregiver’s Conference hosted by the Northeastern New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

April, 2018: Glenn gave a presentation entitled, “Using Revocable Trusts to Avoid Probate” at a Seminar hosted by the Schenectady County Bar Association. 

September, 2017: Glenn spoke at the Albany Law School’s Annual Senior Citizens’ Law Day about how to protect the homestead for long-term care expenses, and the importance of a Power of Attorney in that process.

July, 2017: Glenn facilitated at a round table discussion on health care decisions for the Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar Association in Lake Placid.

June, 2017: Glenn spoke at the Schenectady B’Nai B’Rith on the importance of Estate Planning and Elder Law Documents.

March, 2017: Glenn spoke at an Elder Law Practice Continuing Legal Education Event hosted by the Schenectady County Bar Association at the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia.

March, 2017: The Witecki Law Office was a Sponsor of the 2015 Caregiver's Conference hosted by the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York, at the Albany Marriott on Wolf Road in Colonie, NY. We provided printed materials and answered questions about various estate planning, elder law and asset protection issues, from the perspective of caregivers for individuals with declining memories. The questions posed included issues relating to capacity, Powers of Attorney, Asset Protection Trusts and Guardianships.

March, 2017: Glenn spoke at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in Niskayuna and provided printed materials about various estate planning issues and recommendations.

October 2016: Glenn provided a Continuing Legal Education presentation on behalf of the New York State Bar Association to approximately 150 Elder Law Attorneys in New Jersey.

July 2016: Attorney Glenn Witecki delivered a presentation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the Executive Committee of the Elder Law Section of The New York State Bar Association, on the topic of "Aid In Dying", covering current Legislative and Litigation efforts to legalize Aid in Dying.
